Before installing the PDF Converter, verify the following:

  • A Windows default printer is defined.
  • All printers on the workstation are in Ready
  • You have rights to add and remove printers.

Perform the following:

  1. Log into Sage 100 with administrative rights by right-clicking on the Sage 100 icon and choose “Run As Administrator”

  2. Select File, Run from the Sage 100 toolbar
  3. File, Run

  4. At the Program field, type PL_AdvancedOptions_Ui

  5. Click OK.
  6. The Paperless Office Advanced Options window opens
  7. Click the “Uninstall Converter” button – Wait for the process to finish; the progress bar will disappear. (There is no popup indicating it is completed.)
  8. Verify that the check box for “Use Lockfile” and “Automatically Install Converter” are both selected

  9. Click the “Install Converter” button – Wait for the process to finish; the progress bar will disappear. (There is no popup indicating it is completed.)
  10. Click Test Converter you should see the following Message

  11. Click OK a PDF Document similar to the one below should open on the workstation.

The Sage PDF printer is now installed and working; however, since you are still running Sage 100 in “run as administrator” mode you should test by closing out of Sage 100 and relaunching it without the “run as administrator” option.

After re-launching Sage 100

  1. At the Program field type PL_AdvancedOptions_UI
  2. Click OK.
  3. The Paperless Office Advanced Options window opens
  4. Click the “Install Converter” button – Wait for the process to finish; the progress bar will disappear. (There is no popup indicating it is completed.)
  5. Click Test Converter you should get the PDF screen below

Additional/optional steps that can be helpful

After installing the Sage 100 PDF Converter the steps below can be helpful especially if the users are still having issues with printing to Paperless Office from within Sage 100

Close Sage 100 and go to the Printers and Scanners (or devices and printers in some versions of Windows)

  1. Locate the Sage 100 PDF Converter
  2. Click on Manage

  3. Click on “printer Properties”
  4. Go to the Security Tab
  5. Make sure the “allow” checkbox is set for each of the permissions for any users that will be logging into Sage 100
    • Each group or user name will need to be selected and verified
    • Note, be sure the “ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES” has full permissions
    • Depending on security policy in your organization you can set “Everyone” to have full permissions.

Editing the Sage 100 PDF Converter permissions in the Windows Registry:

CAUTION: Only advanced users should make changes to the Windows registry and administrators should always create a backup of the registry before making changes. If a change is made incorrectly, the computer’s OS may cease to function, but a backup can undo any changes.

Open windows Registry editor:

  • Browse to: ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARESage 100 PDF Converter
  • Right-click on the Sage 100 PDF Converter
  • Select “permissions” from the list
  • Highlight “Everyone” in the top window (Group or user Names)
  • Select Full Control and Read permissions in the bottom window (Permissions)
  • Click Apply
  • Click OK
  • Close the Windows Registry Editor
